After a gap of one year, The Golden Globe Awards returned for its 80th edition with a star-studded night at The Beverly Hilton. This year, the award show, which has been trying to recover from the Los Angeles Times investigation of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s racism controversy, not only saw some of the biggest and much-awaited wins but also marked some iconic moments. From Jerrod Carmichael being the first ever black host of the award show to heart-warming acceptance speeches and ‘RRR’ making India proud by making history as the first Indian film song to win at the Golden Globes, here are all the memorable moments.

While SS Rajamouli’s RRR track ‘Naatu Naatu’ bagging the Best Original Song trophy at this year’s Golden Globe Awards remains the most special moment for Indians for obvious reasons, movies and web series such as The Banshees Of Inisherin, The White Lotus, The Fabelmans, and Abbott Elementary also won big that deserves equal attention.

The American actor and comedian was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes. The 61-year-old’s acceptance speech left everyone in splits for his joke on Will Smith’s slap-gate controversy at the Oscar's last year. He said, “I want to let you know that there is a definitive blueprint that you can follow to achieve success, prosperity, longevity and peace of mind. It is a blueprint and I have followed it my whole career. It is very simple, just do these three things: pay your taxes, mind your business and keep Will Smith's wife's name out of your f***ing mouth!”

Jerrod Carmichael who made history as the first black host of the Golden Globe Awards cracked up everyone by taking a dig at HFPA’s lack of inclusivity. In his opening monologue, he said, “I’ll tell you why I’m here. I’m here ‘cause I’m Black. I took this job assuming they hadn’t changed at all. I heard they got six new Black members. Congrats to them. Whatever.”

The 60-year-old Malaysian actress finally got her long-awaited due, her first Golden Globe award for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once. In her acceptance speech she said, “Not letting go of this. It’s been an amazing journey and incredible fight to be here today, but I think it’s been worth it.” However, part of her speech that’s going viral and for all the right reasons is when she was asked to cut her speech short. The actress jokingly asked the producers to shut up, “I can beat you up. And that's serious.”

Jennifer Coolidge, who played the iconic role of Tanya McQuoid in Mike White's The White Lotus, won the audience with her tear-jerking speech at the Golden Globe Awards night. She started off her speech on a hilarious note by asking if she can put down her trophy, “I can put this down, right? I don't work out! I can't hold it that long.” Further, in her emotional speech for the man behind ‘The White Lotus’, she said, “Mike White, you have given me hope. You’ve given me a new beginning. Even if this is the end, because you did kill me off, but even if this is the end, you changed my life in a million different ways. My neighbours are speaking to me and things like that. I was never invited to one party on my hill, and now everyone’s inviting me! I just — you know, it’s to you, Mike White. You make people want to live longer.”

While accepting his fourth Carol Burnett Lifetime Achievement award, the  American television writer, director and producer credited actors he’s worked with, such as Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Jessica Lange, Matt Bomer, Niecy Nash, Jeremy Pope and others. He said, “I dedicate most of my lifetime achievement speech here tonight to these wonderful actors I’ve worked with to make a point of hope and progress. When I was a young person at home in the ‘70s, watching ‘The Carol Burnett Show', I never, ever saw a person like me getting an award or even being a character on a TV show. It’s hard being an LGBTQ kid in America, in fact all over the world, then and now.”
