Tanka Torani is a rice-based drink from Orissa. In the olden days, it used to be prepared in the temples. It was in fact served as Lord Jagannath’s mahaprasad, in earthen pots inside the Jagannath Dham Puri, Orissa. Since then, the popularity of this drink soured and it soon became a staple in all households across the state.

This healthy drink is made from leftover rice. It is lightly spiced and the addition of curd gives it a tangy flavour.

The humble Tanka Torani is tasty and healthy.
