Milan Fashion Week started with the Italian luxury brand Fendi’s show, marking the eve of their Centennial Celebrations. The fashion house was founded in 1925 in Rome by Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande. Known for its accessories, Fendi was Karl Lagerfeld's playground for a very long time. Post his death, English designer Kim Jones took over as the artistic director for womenswear, while Fendi mother-daughter duo of Silvia Venturini Fendi and Delfina Delettrez Fendi head the menswear, and jewellery for the brand.

Fendi’s Milan Fashion Week outfits were a nod to the 20’s fashion, with the designers returning to their roots. In what would be his collection for the iconic brand, Jones decided to play around with the fun silhouettes of the 1920s to bring in fresh feminine outfits that reflected the brand’s sensibilities well.

The clean-cut, futuristic set stood out in sharp contrast to Fendi’s collection and made for one of the most interesting watches when it comes to Milan Fashion Week brands. Big names who attended the show included actresses Song Hye Kyo, Shailene Woodley, and Matilda De Angelis. Both actresses accessorised their Milan Fashion Week outfits, with Fendi’s Peekaboo Soft which was just launched a while ago.

While there is no dearth of big names when it comes to Milan Fashion Week designers, the council makes it a point that fashion education is promoted at the event, with their program called Fashion Hub. For the Milan Fashion Week 2024, Fashion Hub includes Milano Fashion Institute’s innovative business models being talked about on the 20th of September, as well as Cle Cosmetics’ cross-cultural business conversation about the Korean wave and its branding impact.
Apart from this, also expect a lot of student designer shows with Milano Moda Graduate, and networking events for the upcoming designers and merchandisers at the Milan Fashion Week.
